Gzhel is the name of the style in ceramics existing from the beginning of XIX century. The name was taken from the name of the area where the products of this style were manufactured.
It is located in Moscow region, about 60 km south-east from Moscow. There are more than 20 factories manufacturing Gzhel pottery now.

The golden age of Gzhel was in the second quarter of XIX century, but starting from the middle of XIX century many factories fell into decay. Only in 1950s the revival of the Gzhel production.
The Gzhel products are made of clays from Gzhel region. They are painted white with distinctive blue design. The main theme for design is flowers, herbs and trees.
The assortment of Gzhel products produced now is very big. It includes cups, vases, samovars, clocks, table ware, candlesticks, small souvenirs and so on.
