    St Petersburg Academic Philharmonic

The St Petersburg Philharmonic is the
oldest Philharmonic in Russia. It is more
than two hundred years old.

Many famous musicians appeared on its
stage: Ferenc Listz, Hector Berlioz,
Richard Wagner, Gustav Mahler, Anton
Rubinstein, Robert Schumann, Polina
Viardo, Pablo de Sarasate and others.

The building in which the Grand Hall of
the St Petersburg Philharmonic is located
was built in 1839 for the St Petersburg
Assembly of the Nobility. It has unique
acoustics and its hall seats more than
1500 spectators.

The Small Hall of the Philharmonic was
opened in 1949 in the former mansion of
Baron Engelhardt.

Now St Petersburg Philharmonic is
considered as one of the best concert
