The Imperial Porcelain Factory was founded in 1744 in Saint Ptersburg under the will of Elizabeth I, daughter of Peter the Great. It was the first porcelain manufactory in Russia.
The first porcelain was made under the guidance of Dmitry Vinogradov, the Russian chemist. His porcelain wasn't inferior to the Saxon and Chinese porcelain.
In the second half of XX the new technology of the manufacturing of fine bone porcelain was developed in the factory.
