    White nights

In June the whole city doesn't sleep. At midnight Nevsky prospekt is crowded as if it is
the middle of the working day. Take the
night tour  with the City Tour company and enjoy
the night views of St Petersburg from the double-decker and the boat.

Don't miss the nightly opening of the bridges across Neva river  - the most beautiful
pictures of the drawing bridges are those which are made during the White nights
season.  Learn more about when the bridges are opened
here.

White Nights are not only the natural phenomenon, but also the name of the annual
international arts festival which is organised by the St Petersburg city government. The
festival usually starts in the end of May and lasts until the end of July. Its
program
includes opera, ballet and classic music events.

In the beginning of July, when the White nights season is coming to its end, the
Peter-and-Paul Fortress becomes the stage for the international Jazz Festival
"PetroJazz".  In 2011 it will happen on 16-17 July (see the
program of the festival).
